Katie Cassady is a performer, interpreter, and creator based in Vancouver, BC. Katie
completed her training at Simon Fraser University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance
under the direction of Summer Lee Rhatigan, and currently performs with Kokoro Dance, Donald Sales/Project20 and TWObigsteps Collective. Katie has participated in programs including Gaga Intensive NYC and LA (2012, 2014), Springboard Danse Montréal (2015, 2016), B12 the workshop (2016), and the Creative Gesture at Banff Centre (2017). As an independent creator, her work has been
presented at the Shooting Gallery Performance Series, BC Buds at the Firehall Arts Centre, and
12 Minutes Max at the Dance Centre. Katie holds a BA in Art History from the University of
British Columbia. Katie’s creations attempt to question cultural conceptions of nature, land, and
nation. Most recent explorations revolve around interpretations in the field of climate change,
including interconnectedness, contamination, and expressions that emerge through individual
confrontation with climate change.
