APPRENTICE

Matisse Maitland grew up in Vancouver, Canada.  She started training at age 3 at Tri-City Dance Centre, where she was awarded her Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal Award. At age 18 she joined Alberta Ballet II where she performed in Romeo & Juliette and The Nutcracker with the first company. After a year in Alberta, she moved to San Francisco to continue her training with the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program. While in the training program she performed in multiple venues around San Francisco including Yerba Buena Performing Arts Centre and worked with Alonzo King, Alex Ketley, Shannon Gillen, Sidra Bell, Maurya Kerr, Carmen Rozenstraten, and Gregory Dawson.  She participated in The San Francisco Film Festival 2017, dancing in a film that won 'Best Screendance Under 5min’. Matisse is excited to be joining TWObigsteps this season as an apprentice.
